Saturday, 01 Nov, 2006 0

The Falkland Islands Tourist Board has developed a new website www.visitorfalklands.com as a resource to help planning trips to the South Atlantic destination.

Specialist sections include local accommodation, flight arrangements, local wildlife, tours and excursions, eating out, shopping, fishing, and an overview of the capital, Stanley.

Colour brochures covering these key areas is downloadable in PDF format from the site, along with a five minute promotional film.

More that 45,000 tourists visited the Falklands archipelago during the 2005-06 season.

Cruise ship visitors on Antarctic itineraries account for the majority of tourists who visit the Islands.

Fifty five thousand cruise ship visitors are anticipated for the 2006-07 season, an increase of almost 20% over the previous period.

FITB chairman Ian Hansen said: “Falkland Islands tourism is going from strength to strength and this new website is guaranteed to entice more people to visit our shores.”
