New Galileo rail booking system adopted by agents

The first agents have gone live on Galileo’s new Rail for Agents service in the UK.

Galileo claims agents will be able to increase their revenues as no ATOC licence is required, and currently 9% commission can be earned on bookings.

The replacement for the legacy Galileo RailMaster system based on the Elgar platform, was first introduced to Galileo-connected agencies in April.

It claims to give access to almost 300 million journeys and fare combinations for national rail services in the UK.

The services includes access to the national ticket on departure (TOD) network for FastTicket machines, integration of rail booking information in Galileo PNRs and credit card-sized tickets printing.

Galileo UK and Ireland general manager Patrick Lukan said: “We recognise that rail is going to continue to be an important part of the content and service our customers are going to need to provide to their travellers which is why we were eager to get a rail solution in the market well ahead of the date when the Elgar platform will stop delivering National Rail services.

“And not only do our customers now benefit from using a single suppler for air and rail content but agents also get to benefit through the 9% commission that they currently receive on all rail bookings.”
