New Greece and Cyprus operator starts trading
An online operator aims to fill a gap left in selling holidays to Greece and Cyprus following the demise of firms such as Libra Holidays.
Dream Holidays managing director Akis Kyprianou aims to pay agents “competitive” commission rates with bookings by viewdata or the company’s website.
The ATOL and ABTA bonded operator is initially offering packages, flight-only and accommodation deals from Gatwick and Manchester to Cyprus and six Greek islands – Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Kos, Santorini and Zante.
Prices start at £189 for seven nights from Gatwick including resort transfers.
“There is now a lack of presence in the UK marketplace of specialist tour operators featuring the Eastern Mediterranean,” said Kyprianou.
“Following the unfortunate demise of established brands in the last five years, we believe that we can offer the specialist product that the consumer is currently missing.
"Since 2004, the UK has seen a decrease in the number of holidays to Greece and Cyprus and this huge reduction in capacity has created a gap in the market and presented an opportunity for a new specialist tour operator. In addition, the Greek and Cypriot hoteliers, we believe, will welcome the opportunity to support our new specialist brand.”
