The Cincy Region is gearing up for a standout year of landmark events and major cultural moments as America celebrates in 2026. Here’s what’s new in Cincinnati in 2026:
America 250: Ohio Goes to the Movies
As part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, Cincinnati rolls out the red carpet for “Ohio Goes to the Movies” honoring the state’s trailblazing actresses including Doris Day, Ruby Dee and Phyllis Diller. Historic theaters across the city will host special screenings of their iconic films, complete with nostalgic local candy concessions and post film conversations exploring the legacy of women in Hollywood.
New places to stay
Cincinnati’s hotel scene continues to expand. The Moxy Hotel Cincinnati, named one of the best hotels in America by USA Today, brings playful energy to historic Italianate buildings near the riverfront and sports stadiums, complete with a rooftop bar.
Breaking ground in 2026, the Marriott Downtown Cincinnati will be one of the largest hotel debuts in the region, offering 700 rooms, a rooftop terrace and vibrant street level retail, while the Hyatt Centric Cincinnati marks Ohio’s first Hyatt Centric, designed with touches from local artists.

Looking ahead to 2027, the Lunken Airport Hotel from the acclaimed Hotel Covington team will pair aviation history with contemporary luxury. Also debuting in July 2026, the Fidelity Hotel will transform the historic Gwynne Building into Downtown Cincinnati’s newest lifestyle address.
Lalovavi: America’s First Afrofuturist Grand Opera
In Summer 2026, The Black Opera Project marks a powerful cultural milestone as America’s second oldest opera company debuts Lalovavi, the first grand opera centered on an Afrofuturist theme. This bold three act world premiere launches a groundbreaking three-year initiative celebrating Black artistry, history and resilience, placing Cincinnati at the forefront of contemporary operatic storytelling. Visitors can pair this moment in music history with a taste of the city’s iconic Opera Cream candy, a heritage confection.
Ohio River Paddlefest Turns 25
In August 2026, Ohio River Paddlefest celebrates its 25th anniversary as the nation’s largest paddling festival. Thousands of kayaks, canoes and paddleboards take to the Ohio River, creating a spectacular flotilla that winds through downtown Cincinnati’s skyline. BLINK 2026: America’s largest light and art festival
In October 2026, the fifth edition of BLINK, the largest light, art and projection mapping festival in the United States, will transform more than 30 city blocks across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky into a dazzling immersive open air gallery. Monumental projection mapping, large scale light sculptures, murals and live performances will illuminate the skyline and riverfront.
FotoFocus 2026
In October 2026, the FotoFocus Biennial, America’s largest lens based art biennial, returns with its new theme, “The Long View.” Spanning Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and surrounding cities, the month-long program features international exhibitions, talks and events across more than 100 venues. Showcasing hundreds of global artists, FotoFocus transforms the region into a vast creative canvas, drawing curators, collectors and culture seekers.
