The Cincy Region is gearing up for a standout year of landmark events and major cultural moments as America celebrates in 2026. Here’s what’s new in Cincinnati in 2026:

America 250: Ohio Goes to the Movies

As part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, Cincinnati rolls out the red carpet for “Ohio Goes to the Movies” honoring the state’s trailblazing actresses including Doris Day, Ruby Dee and Phyllis Diller. Historic theaters across the city will host special screenings of their iconic films, complete with nostalgic local candy concessions and post film conversations exploring the legacy of women in Hollywood.

New places to stay

Cincinnati’s hotel scene continues to expand. The Moxy Hotel Cincinnati, named one of the best hotels in America by USA Today, brings playful energy to historic Italianate buildings near the riverfront and sports stadiums, complete with a rooftop bar.

Breaking ground in 2026, the Marriott Downtown Cincinnati will be one of the largest hotel debuts in the region, offering 700 rooms, a rooftop terrace and vibrant street level retail, while the Hyatt Centric Cincinnati marks Ohio’s first Hyatt Centric, designed with touches from local artists.

Also launching in 2026, Blue Suede Cincinnati blends boutique charm with preserved character in a 100 year old building, and Home2 Suites by Hilton Cincinnati Downtown offers extended stay convenience within a restored landmark property.

Looking ahead to 2027, the Lunken Airport Hotel from the acclaimed Hotel Covington team will pair aviation history with contemporary luxury. Also debuting in July 2026, the Fidelity Hotel will transform the historic Gwynne Building into Downtown Cincinnati’s newest lifestyle address.

Lalovavi: America’s First Afrofuturist Grand Opera

In Summer 2026, The Black Opera Project marks a powerful cultural milestone as America’s second oldest opera company debuts Lalovavi, the first grand opera centered on an Afrofuturist theme. This bold three act world premiere launches a groundbreaking three-year initiative celebrating Black artistry, history and resilience, placing Cincinnati at the forefront of contemporary operatic storytelling. Visitors can pair this moment in music history with a taste of the city’s iconic Opera Cream candy, a heritage confection.

Ohio River Paddlefest Turns 25

In August 2026, Ohio River Paddlefest celebrates its 25th anniversary as the nation’s largest paddling festival. Thousands of kayaks, canoes and paddleboards take to the Ohio River, creating a spectacular flotilla that winds through downtown Cincinnati’s skyline. Paddlefest offers a uniquely scenic way to experience the city from the water.

Glier’s Goettafest turns 25

In July and August 2026, Glier’s Goettafest celebrates its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter century of honoring Cincinnati’s beloved pork and oat sausage. This wonderfully quirky food festival serves up goetta in every form imaginable, from goetta topped pizza to sweet surprises like donuts and brownies. Equal parts hometown tradition and culinary creativity, it is a must taste summer staple.

In September 2026, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati marks its 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades as America’s largest Oktoberfest. The golden jubilee promises all the beloved traditions, from lively stein holding contests and spirited dachshund races to the world’s biggest chicken dance. With rivers of beer, authentic German fare and nonstop entertainment, this milestone year will be bigger, bolder and more festive than ever.

BLINK 2026: America’s largest light and art festival

In October 2026, the fifth edition of BLINK, the largest light, art and projection mapping festival in the United States, will transform more than 30 city blocks across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky into a dazzling immersive open air gallery. Monumental projection mapping, large scale light sculptures, murals and live performances will illuminate the skyline and riverfront.
