New Indian airline TruJet cleared for take-off
India’s latest airline startup has been given the green light by regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation and plans to starting flying on July 12.
Turbo Megha Airways, operating under the name TruJet, has two 72-seater ATR-72 turboprop aircraft on lease and plans to boost its fleet to five by next March.
The airline was established by aviation entrepreneur Umesh Vankayalapati and movie actor Ram Charan Teja.
"We are launching service from July 12 and will have our initial schedule till July 26 coinciding with Pushkaram festival," said Vankayalapati.
TruJet will fly from Hyderabad to Tirupati and Aurangabad, initially with plans to expand to Aurangabad, Mangaluru, Hubli and other Tier II cities in the near future.
Vankayalapat said the airline would focus on under-served regional destinations in South India as well as Goa, and reservations would open very soon.
