Denarau Golf & Racquet Club, Denarau Island, Fiji, has appointed Greg Cornwall, as General Manager.

Greg is recognised one of Fiji’s leading hoteliers with an outstanding track record of successfully managing resorts in Fiji and the Asia Pacific region, having been General Manager of Hua Hin Marriot Resort & Spa in Thailand and the Laguna Quays Resort in Australia, Treasure and Bounty Island Resorts and most recently at Golf Terrace Apartments in Fiji.

Greg Cornwall has also held senior management positions with both the Regent of Fiji and the Regent of Auckland.

Greg arrived in Fiji as a three year old and was raised in Vatukoula, the gold mining town where he started playing golf at the age of twelve.

Greg is very enthusiastic about his appointment and plans to revive a junior golf foundation with local corporate companies providing sponsorships to young Fiji residents at the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club.

He also intends to create additional golf and tennis tournaments including lawn bowls. The Clubhouse and golf course are already undergoing a face-lift to ensure the club is more comfortable for both overseas guests and local residents and improvements are scheduled to enhance the food and beverage and shopping experience.

The Denarau Golf & Racquet Club, is a world class sporting facility encompassing a par 72 championship golf course, six lawn and four all-weather floodlit tennis courts, a well stocked Pro Shop, open-air bar and a casual restaurant serving lunch and dinner, and an experienced team of golf and tennis professionals.

The Denarau Golf & Racquet Club course perfectly captures the Pacific mood with bunkers the shape of marine life. Designed around extensive tidal waterways with water challenges on 15 of the 18 holes, this resort style golf course is unique as it is challenging and is suited to golfers of all standards from beginners to social and weekend enthusiasts and more accomplished players.

Host to the popular Denarau Open Golf Tournament scheduled for 7th & 8th June 2008, with over 110 international participants from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Korea and Fiji and with access to a range of five-star resorts and Port Denarau Retail & Commercial Centre, the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club is the South Pacific’s ultimate sporting holiday destination.
