New operator to donate 5% of profit to local charities
A new operator to the Far East has pledged to donate five per cent of its profits to good causes on the destinations it features.
Independent operator Ethos Travel specialises in tailor made trips to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong and claims to encourage travellers to think ethically when booking their holidays.
The company supports a number of local charities and pledges to donate at least five per cent of its profits to specific projects which help develop the infrastructure of the destinations covered.
The company focuses on sending people to small, locally owned resorts with high standards and a commitment to supporting their local communities.
The “vast majority” of hotels have been hand-picked and are based on local knowledge and established long-term relationships with hoteliers and partners in Asia.
Ethos Travel was founded by former Bridge the World employees Sam Collins and Tim Willcox.
Managing director Collins said: “We are passionate about our destinations because they are places we have known and loved for sometime.
“Whilst tourism in general benefits the small communities we all flock to, we feel it is important to be doing that much more.
“British holidaymakers too often flock to beautiful destinations without thinking about the area outside their luxurious hotel. We want to ensure that we go that extra mile to help develop the infrastructure of our paradise retreats.
“We use distinctive hotels that are enriched by their setting, style and architecture; that are unique in their intimacy, that have a pride in their immaculate, down-to-earth service and that are set in outstanding locations.
“We strive to work with smaller, locally owned properties. Tourism can benefit local communities at grass root levels and we aim to maximise these benefits.”
