New Orleans cruise travel continues to face delays
Estimates are it will be a month or more before cruise travel gets back to normal in New Orleans.
Said Jennifer de la Cruz, a Carnival Cruise Lines spokeswoman:
“We do not know when we might be able to resume operations out of New Orleans.”
Carnival moved its two ships sailing out of New Orleans to Galveston, Tex.
The cruise terminal in Mobile had far less damage. The Carnival Holiday sailed from there within a week of the storm.
Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean operate seven-day winter season cruises to the western Caribbean out of New Orleans. Spokesmen say they are taking a wait-and-see attitude.
New Orleans is the ninth largest cruise port in the country.
