New president at Expedia in US

Steven McArthur has been named president of Expedia North America, the company announced.

He reports to Erik Blachford, president and CEO of IAC Travel.

Mr McArthur was formerly executive vice president of web services for America Online.

He now assumes day-to-day responsibility of Expedia’s North America operations, including management of the Expedia.com travel site.

At AOL, Mr McArthur led the company’s web and messaging services, including the Netscape portal. He was previously president and CEO of AOL Canada.
