New resorts along Canada’s West Coast

Tuesday, 10 Jun, 2004 0

Two new luxury resorts for vacationers seeking seashore experiences on the west coast of British Columbia have recently opened.

Both are wooing visitors with top-flight services, room amenities, fine dining, unique excursions and the obligatory spa treatments — all in serene coastal settings.

Poets Cove is on quiet Pender Island in the Southern Gulf Islands group in the Georgia Strait. It faces the deep Bedwell Harbor. Its marina is special in that it is a Canada Customs entry point for sailors from the U.S. It is also a scheduled

stop for float plane services from Vancouver.

Also newly opened is the Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa, set on an inlet near Victoria on Vancouver Island. It features 33 ocean-view suites with king beds, spa-like bathrooms with double-jetted tub and body massage showers, fireside sitting areas, private patios or balconies, handcrafted furnishings and DVD entertainment
systems. Rooms start at $495.

The lodge has recently been named a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group.
