Starwood Hotels & Resorts is expanding its Thailand footprint with a deal signed with Grand Bay Hotel Co., Ltd to operate a new Sheraton hotel in Phuket.

The 200-room Sheraton Phuket Grand Bay Resort is expected to open in early 2019 and located in the Grand Bay area of north Phuket.

The hotel will have a private beachfront and feature meetings space, an outdoor pool, spa and three dining venues.

"We look forward to partnering with Grand Bay Hotel Co., Ltd. to expand Starwood’s robust footprint in Thailand. Phuket draws an unwavering number of inbound and domestic travellers, making it a strategic market for Sheraton and further driving formidable growth for Starwood in Asia Pacific," said Rajit Sukumaran, senior vice president for acquisitions and development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

The new hotel will join an existing Sheraton property on the island, Sheraton Phuket Kalim Beach Resort, which is slated to open in 2018.
