New South Wales Government grossly underfunds business tourism

Chris Brown CEO of Sydney based national Tourism and Transport Forum Australia, in his continued criticism of tourism under funding by the New South Wales Government, has warned that business tourism infrastructure in NSW is also grossly under funded, potentially costing the state millions of tourism dollars and jobs.

Chris Brown said it was critical the NSW Government invest in larger facilities for Sydney, adding, “Sydney is turning away business because of lack of capacity and The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Bureau is one of the most under-funded convention marketing agencies in the country.

His comments come at the time of AIME, being held in business tourism competitor city Melbourne, where massive funds are being invested in a new convention centre which will become the largest in Australia when it opens in 2008/9.

Chris Brown added that NSW business tourism deserves singificantly more support from Government.
