New Tokyo hotel is Japanese to the core
Palace Hotel Tokyo will open on May 17.
The 23-storey, 290-room hotel replaces two hotels, the Hotel Teito and Palace Hotel, which previously occupied the site.
“This hotel is Japanese through and through, from its ownership and management, to its service protocols and its picture-perfect location by the Imperial Palace gardens and moats,” said Palace Hotel Tokyo president, Takashi Kobayashi.
“For domestic and international travelers alike, we hope they will walk away saying, ‘To have stayed at Palace Hotel Tokyo is to have experienced the very essence of Japanese hospitality’.”
The hotel is located in Marunouchi which, along with two neighbouring business districts, account for about 25% of Japan’s GDP
One of four basement levels offering retail outlets will be linked to the Otemachi subway station, due to be completed in early 2013.
