New tool for vacation rental industry

Agents have a new tool to tap into the estimated $24 billion vacation rental industry, says LeisureLink.

Through its partnership with Worldspan, LeisureLink now offers vacation rental properties on the same screen as hotel listings. Agents can find condos and timeshare properties and book them through the GDS.

The company says agents through Worldspan’s GDS avoid time-consuming web searches to locate properties. The payment process is also simple, according to LeisureLink.

The company was founded in 2002 to create an electronic marketplace that connects travel agents with vacation rental suppliers worldwide. LeisureLink pays a minimum of 10% commissions on transactions that pay an average of $594.

Add-ons such as flights, auto rentals and others are also available through LeisureLink.

The company says consumers get more value because vacation rentals accommodate family groups and typically provide full kitchens, fireplaces and resort amenities.
