New tours focus on cultural experiences

Go Ahead Tours launched three new tours that focus on the increasing popularity of experiential and active travel.

The company says its new tours – “A Taste of Tuscany & Umbria”; “The Hawaiian Islands”; and “Historic Germany:  Berlin to Bavaria” – provide travelers with greater opportunities to experience local culture first-hand than traditional tour itineraries.

“Increasingly, travelers are yearning for active, theme-based itineraries and are increasingly hungry for cultural experiences and insight.  Our new tours address this dynamic by incorporating specific aspects of culinary, cultural, and historical interests into tours with flexible itineraries,” said Go Ahead’s Vice President of Marketing Cyril Lemaire.  “Our clients not only want to see the sites, but also get to know the people – their traditions, customs, history and lifestyles.”

One of the tours to Hawaii involves a 10-day land-and-sea, 6-port voyage to discover Hawaiian activities such as reef snorkeling, hiking volcanic summits, exploring Hawaiian culture and relaxing on the white-sand beaches.

Highlights include:

  • A locally guided tour of downtown Honolulu, a visit to the US Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor and a visit to Punchbowl Cemetery, the burial site of thousands of American veterans located in a volcano crater.

  • A seven-day cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America, including a stop at the port at Hilo, the big island’s seaside town nestled between the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea volcano.

  • Two day stays on the islands of Maui and Kauai and a flexible itinerary for travelers wanting to explore the island at their own pace.
