New water slide attraction debuts at SeaWorld Orlando this weekend
SeaWorld Orlando announced its new water park attraction at Aquatica will open at the weekend.
The new 60-feet tall raft ride Ray Rush opens on May 12, and has a first of its kind combination of enclosed tube sections, an open-air halfpipe and large sphere.
The manta ray-themed ride can accommodate up to four people in a single raft.
It is one of a slew of new attractions aimed at turning around SeaWorld’s fortunes which have remained flat ever since the ‘Blackfish’ fallout.
The company has pivoted toward a more conventional theme park experience and gradually away from the now flawed business model of a focus on marine animal attractions.
Last week, SeaWorld announced the planned Sesame Street land will open next year with daily parades, character meet-and-greets and wet and dry play areas.
"Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando is an amazing addition to our park, providing more unique and memorable experiences for the entire family," said SeaWorld Orlando president Jim Dean.
