New website aims to match clients to specialist operators
A website that allows customers to search for specialist holidays using five different criteria including destination, type of trip and budget has been launched by travel writers Edward Reeves and James Henderson.
The pair has handpicked about 200 tour operators to feature on the site, Travelspinner.com.
Users key in their destination, type of holiday, age, budget and whether they are travelling alone or as part of a couple, family or group and Travelspinner sends their request to three handpicked operators who then email the customer holiday suggestions.
Reeves said ideally he would like to offer 400 to 500 companies on the site. "There’s a definite limit to how many we can manage in terms of keeping reviews etc up to date," he said, but admitted the site needed more budget operators.
However, Reeves and Henderson have made a commitment to only feature on their site tour operators who are able to offer a personal service. Travelspinner doesn’t have any advertising and tour operators don’t pay to be listed, but the pair is considering charing tour operators on a per-lead basis later this year.
Operators listed include Bridge & Wickers, Caribtours and Discover the World.
