New website specialises in remote and sustainable holiday rentals
A new online holiday rental company launches this week specialising in remote properties in some of the world’s most ‘beautiful and isolated’ locations.
Called Off Grid Hideaways, the online firm also features accommodation which is sustainable and has a low impact on the environment.
There are currently five properties on the site and the target is to reach 30.
Rentals are split into three categories – country, mountain and sea – and range from reclaimed fishing huts in nature reserves to contemporary mountain cabins in national parks.
"Whilst often best experienced in the low season, even at peak times guests can feel that they have ‘got away from it all’ and are able to engage in a slower pace of life exploring hiking trails, discovering new off the beaten track villages, kayaking uninhabited coastlines and finding local restaurants that pioneer a local and seasonal approach," said a spokesman.
The company was co-founded by Flavia Kampf Spahr, an interior designer and luxury hotel project consultant for Swissotel, and Sina Murphy Chan, a hotel management graduate and portfolio manager for Credit Suisse.
"We wanted not only to share the incredible places we’ve discovered, but also drive sustainable and lasting change by helping to redefine the concept of ‘luxury’," they said.
"To us, true luxury is a better quality of ‘¨life for all. Fewer possessions, more experiences. Stripping away the noise to find what’s meaningful.
"By sharing places where nature is front and centre, where the pace of life is slow, we encourage visitors to press pause and truly engage. In turn, this means we can support emerging tourist economies and the communities that serve them through the quieter times."
