New Zealand hit by powerful earthquake

A powerful earthquake has shaken New Zealand but there are no immediate reports of significant damage or injury.
The centre of the quake, which was magnitude 7, was in the Tamsin sea, 170kms northwest of the capital Wellington and the tremor was felt throughout both the north and south islands.
No tsunami warnings have been issued.
