No cursing, this is the Olympics
BEIJING: China will launch a campaign to discourage foul language and smoking in public areas during the 2008 Olympic Games, senior Chinese officials said yesterday.
The campaign is aimed at improving the image of the city during next year’s Olympic Games, Beijing News reported.
Beijing will require smokers to butt out their cigarettes not only in stadiums but also in public places like restaurants and hotels, said Liu Jingmin, vice mayor of the Chinese capital.
There will also be a crackdown on spitting and cursing.
