No way!
In line with the comments of Michael and Catherine above, we are most certainly not seeing this trend! We have also already booked 70% of the pax we had last year and are have much higher fill rates than at this time in any previous year. Our average revenue per pax is also higher than at any time before so it really does not bear out the research.
Perhaps we (Ski Amis) are in the same middle market as Ski Independence and Ski France and perhaps we are seeing clients coming down to our market from the top end luxury chalets? Perhaps it is only the top end that is losing out as clients downtrade and the bottom end where their clients cannot afford it any longer? I would be interested to see comments from some of the top end and bottom end operators to see what they think.
Unless everyone stops booking now, and there is no sign of that, we are looking at a very good season.
