Norfolk Island flights offered for Newcastle Flood Relief Dinner
Norfolk Air, which began services from Newcastle to Norfolk Island last month, has joined flood relief efforts with the offer of 16 return tickets to the sunny South Pacific haven.
Regional Relief Fund Coordinator Stephen Porges said he was delighted to receive the tickets, which would be auctioned at a dinner at the Wests Leagues Club in Newcastle next Thursday to raise money for victims of the recent heavy rains and flooding.
“We are delighted with this gesture from Norfolk Air and many other companies wanting to help the people so disastrously effected by the recent floods,” Mr Porges added.
Norfolk Air CEO Ewan Wilson said news of the widespread impact of the flooding shocked Norfolk Islanders, many with friends and relatives living along the Central Coast.
“The region has been through a terrible time, and the chance to give some of those disadvantaged by the grim weather a lovely break on our beautiful island is the least we can do,” Mr Wilson said.
Norfolk Air’s distinctive green and white-liveried 737 flies to the external Australian territory 1300km north-east of Newcastle each Monday.
