Northwest flight is 43 hours late
Talk about memorable flight delays: A Northwest Airlines trip from Minneapolis to Tokyo finally took off after being 43 hours late.
Mechanical problems and the lack of a crew were the culprits, said Northwest.
A spokesman for the airline said the delay was not caused by the current mechanics strike.
Passengers were kept on the plane for a total of nine hours over a 24-hour period, the airline said.
Northwest issued an apology and said it will pay for two nights’ worth of food and lodging, as well as hand out $700 in travel certificates.
