Northwest prepared to fly on with substitute workers
Northwest Airlines is preparing to operate indefinitely with a crew of replacement workers and outside vendors, says Northwest spokesman Kurt Ebenhoch.
The strike, which began 20 August, caused some disruptions but apparently not enough to seriously impair the airline’s operations.
Northwest is continuing operations with 1,500 replacement workers and outside vendors.
Analysts said it is becoming increasingly clear that Northwest was well-prepared for the strike, says Airwise News.
The Federal aviation Administration beefed up supervision of the airline.
“I would have no safety concerns,” said Robert Mann, an airline consultant with R. W. Mann & Co.
