Norwegian Dawn ‘hit reef’ on Bermuda cruise
Norwegian Dawn has been refloated after hitting ground during a week-long cruise from Boston to Bermuda.
The ship, with 2,443 passengers onboard, is believed to have hit a reef on Tuesday after veering off course as it was leaving Bermuda.
Norwegian Cruise Line issued a statement saying that all guests and crew were safe and ‘there were absolutely no injuries’.
It said the ship had a temporary malfunction of its steering system, which had caused it to sail slightly off course.
It was inspected by an independent dive team and no significant damage was found, but the ship remained at anchor overnight so that it could be thoroughly inspected in Bermuda before returning to Boston.
"The ship is fully operational with the full complement of onboard services available to guests," the company said.
