Norwegian switches sides on smoking
Norwegian Cruise Line has become the latest cruise line to tighten up its smoking policy.
From November 1, smoking will be banned on stateroom balconies and limited in the casino to players only.
Onboard Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, smoking on The Waterfront will be permitted on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas.
“The health and well-being of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance,” it said, announcing the changes today.
“We thank our guests for their understanding and cooperation.”
The decision comes weeks after Carnival announced it would no longer allow guests to light up on cabin balconies.
Holland America Line is now the only mainstream cruise line that still permits smoking on cabin balconies.
