Nottingham chosen for business tourism conference
Nottingham has been selected to hold the second national Business Tourism Conference on November 15 and 16 2004. The conference will be held in association with the Business Tourism Partnership. Chief Executive of Experience Nottingham, Dr John Heeley, said: “This is a real coup in terms of profile and economic impact. One of our key aims is to become a premier league conference and event destination and securing this prestigious conference is proof that we can achieve this status.” The conference organisers, Index Communications, said Nottingham was chosen from a shortlist of five destinations. A visit to the city this month had highlighted the city’s accessibility and outstanding venues, said conference director Peter Mainprice. “Nottingham is centrally placed for delegates from all over the UK to come to the event,” he added. Up to 300 delegates, including representatives of regional development agencies, tourist boards, national, regional and local government, destination management organisations, conference organisers and intermediaries and suppliers, are expected to attend. Delegate spending is estimated at £60,000.
