Novotel Ningaloo “hatches” on Nature’s Playground

Sunday, 05 Jan, 2007 0

Accor’s Novotel Ningaloo Resort has opened just in time for one of nature’s most spectacular sights as Green, Loggerhead, Hawksbill and Flatback turtles drag themselves ashore to lay eggs and hatch their young.

With direct access to the beach from the resort, there is no better time to visit Ningaloo Reef for a true ‘back to nature’ experience with special rates starting from $180 per night for a Standard King Pool View room until 31 March 2007.

The first international resort hotel to be built near Ningaloo Reef, off the coast of Exmouth in Western Australia, has opened 44 of the planned 150 rooms, servicing the growing popularity of the nature based tourist destination, with the $24 million development including a range of self-contained apartments, and free-standing one and two bedroom villas, each with own spa bath.

The complex also contains a restaurant, bar, lounge, resort-style swimming pool and gym plus direct beach access.

No matter what season, Ningaloo serves as nature’s playground; famous for its whale sharks in autumn, giant turtles in summer and the annual migration of humpback whales to their breeding grounds in winter and return south in the spring.

Novotel Ningaloo guests will enjoy the best seats in the house watching the whales at play in the gulf out the front of the resort.

For underwater adventure, Ningaloo Reef is the largest fringing coral reef in Australia and the closest to the mainland, in some cases as close as 100 metres offshore, featuring more than 250 species of coral and 500 species of fish.

On the land, nearby Cape Range National Park offers spectacular canyons and gorges as well as unique flora and fauna.

Currently, Skywest flies direct to Exmouth from Perth daily and there are also regular flights from Broome, complementing increased visitation to the west coast from both international guests and east coast travellers.

Novotel Ningaloo Resort provides the perfect base for holidaying couples or families, surrounded by some of Australia’s best natural attractions. Exmouth itself is a booming fishing village, which offers perfect weather year-round, arguably the best fishing in Australia, unspoilt beaches and a cosmopolitan choice of restaurants and bars.
