‘Nut rage’ exec freed from jail
The ‘nut rage’ Korean Air executive has been freed from prison after an appeals court suspended her jail sentence.
The court found that Cho Hyun-ah, the daughter of the airline’s chairman, had not violated aviation security rules despite her tantrum over how nuts were served on board a flight.
However, the Seoul High Court found Cho guilty of using violence against flight attendants, and sentenced her to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years.
A lower court had previously sentenced her to a year in jail.
A Korean Air plane was leaving JFK Airport for Seoul on December 5 when witnesses say Ms Cho became angry over macadamia nuts being served in a bag and not a bowl.
She ordered the plane to return to the gate and offload the chief steward.
