NYC setting new records
Numbers of tourists visiting New York City last year should hit a record of 39.6 million. And international tourism is up for the first time since 9-11.
The tourism industry is setting new records, said New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The numbers would reflect a 4.6% increase in tourism for last year over the previous year.
Hotel occupancy also climbed to its highest level in four years, rising to 83% in 2004 after falling to a low of 73.4% in 2001.
The average daily hotel room rate also rose to $212 last year after a five-year low of $193 in 2003.
