Offbeat hot and cold hotel offers
Both the Kimpton in Denver and the Millennium Resort Scottsdale McCormick Ranch in Arizona are offering opposite but somewhat unusual hotel deals:
Since Scottsdale, AZ., boasts temperatures of upwards of 100 degrees, the Desert Oasis Package is designed to “help guests cool off.”
During the duration of their stay, guests will receive a daily food and beverage credit in the amount of the high temperature at check-in. The credit can be used at several restaurants.
The package is available June 1 through August 31, for bookings made on or before May 31, based on double occupancy and availability. The price starts at US$109 per night plus applicable fees and taxes.
Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Denver is in a far colder climate but says guests can cozy up t o the living-room style lobby with, among other amenities:
• Light Me Upgrades: Guests can ask to play the “Light Me Up” game at check-in to answer a trivia question for a free upgrade based on availability.
• Seasonal Sips: Travelers can warm up with complimentary classic treats such as hot chocolate with marshmallows and hot apple cider daily from 2 – 4 p.m. in the hotel lobby.
There’s also a $25 food and beverage credit and free popcorn.
Rates are $15 more than “best available,” which can be under $100.
The offer is good through March 31.
