OFT ‘warns of legal action’ over misleading prices
The Office of Fair Trading is reportedly threatening High Court action against travel companies advertising misleading prices on thier websites.
Weekend reports suggest the OFT has taken the “unprecedented step” of writing to companies warning that it will apply to the High Court for injunctions to stop them trading if they do not comply with new rules to ensure prices are kept transparent by the end of the month.
The disclosure in the Sunday Telegraph, follows a spot check by trading standards officials which found a leading budget airline and tour operator flouting the laws on flight and holiday prices.
As previously reported by TraveMole, the OFT is expected to announce details of its warning over misleading pricing this week.
