One-day strike in India likely to hit transport
Visitors to India are being warned that transport and other services are likely to be disrupted tomorrow due to a one-day national strike.
Tens of millions of workers are due to protest against the government’s pro-investor policies.
The BJP-led coalition government has speeded up reforms including the partial and full privatization of state-owned industries including the railways, airports and ports.
The BJP has also made changes to the country’s labour laws to make it easier for employers to lay off workers.
The UK Foreign Office said visitors to India should monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities during tomorrow’s strike
