One Show Alex Jones and comedian Patrick Monahan to host British Travel Awards
The One Show’s Alex Jones and stand-up comedian Patrick Monahan will co-host the 2020 British Travel Awards virtual presentation ceremony to be held on 14 December.
The live broadcast will start at 2pm from Boisdale Restaurant in Canary Wharf and entry is free to both the trade and the public.
Travel industry guests will be able to interact with other attendees with one to one, group and private chat facilities possible but consumers won’t be able to interact with other guests on the site.
Award nominees have been asked to upload ‘celebration’ videos to be shown as part of the live broadcast.
There will also be the chance to win six bottles of champagne by sharing your "Best Dressed" and "Best Cocktail" tweets on the day.
British Travel Awards’ CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton said: "The Awards will be as much fun as always and this year, for the first time, everyone can attend! Travel industry people, their families, friends and even consumer customers can register to ‘attend’ and find out just which companies have been voted the best in travel."
Lorraine is also auctioning off 25 of the ballgowns she has worn to previous BTA ceremonies. Bids will be accepted up to 15 January and all proceeds will go to ABTA Lifeline.
The 2020 British Travel Awards will cover 51 award categories, covering a range of leisure travel services and experiences but this year there will be no air or cruise categories, except river cruise holiday companies and cruise retailers.
