Online activity specialist ceases trading

A website dedicated to selling independently-run activity holidays has ceased trading, blaming ‘unforeseen circumstances’.

The directors have instructed InsolvencySquared to assist with closing the company.

"All confirmed holiday bookings will go ahead as planned," it told partners, who advertised on the site and paid commission and a joining fee.

It also reassured businesses who had been listed on the site that all email addresses on its email marketing programme have been removed from the email marketing software.

"Insolvency Squared will be writing to any creditors who joined Vidados or renewed in the last 12 months with further details, within the next two days," it said on Wednesday.

"We sincerely apologise for the situation and wish you all the very best for a successful 2017."

Vidados had previously said it was looking to work more closely with the travel trade.

Launched last year, it aimed to bring together a ‘highly fragmented’ market and allow ‘micro entrepreneurs’ to sell their holidays globally and to take instant online bookings.

CEO Vanessa Lenssen told TravelMole that small, often family-run operators would be given access to technology and payment facilities which they would otherwise be unable to get.

Activity holidays on the site included surfing, horse riding, photography, walking and cooking.
