Lastminute.com chief executive officer Ian McCaig is to leave the company next month and Ed Kamm will become president.

McCaig has been with Lastminute.com since 2003 when he became chief operating officer and later took on founder Brent Hoberman’s role as chief executive officer.

The former Nokia employee took the reins of the business and steered it towards an impressive 2.5 million visitors a week.

He said: “The e-commerce industry has changed enormously since I started in 2003, but lastminute.com remains one of its best-known brands. The company is very well positioned to take advantage of the many new opportunities that the web has to offer in the future. Ed Kamm has been a close colleague for more than five years and I leave the business in very safe hands.”

Meanwhile Ed Kamm has 16 years behind him at lastminute.com’s parent company Sabre and Travelocity Global. He got involved with Lastminute.com when he became chief financial officer five years ago and chief operating officer two years later.
