Online short break sales soar
Almost half of people with internet access regularly book flights on line, a survey by EasyJet shows.
It claims that more than nine in 10 people will use the internet to plan or buy holidays this year, acording to online news service Ananova.
It reports that the 93% figure is 12% up on the last poll conducted three months ago.
Trips to Eastern Europe are growing in popularity with Tallinn, Krakow and Budapest among destinations receiving more visitors via web sales. These are in addition to established favourites such as Prague, Rome and Paris.
An EasyJet spokesman is quoted as saying: “It used to be the case that a new holiday destination would enter the market once every few years. But with the arrival of low cost airlines and net-savvy travellers, Britons now have a vast – and rapidly expanding – choice of where to go for a short break.”
