Onyx announces first hotel in Maldives
Thai hotel operator Onyx Hospitality has announced is first foray into the Maldives with an agreement to manage the 120-unit Amari Havodda Resort.
The property is located in the Southern Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, 4oo km from capital Male.
Guests will arrive via a one-hour flight and speedboat transfer to the all villa resort which includes 60 over-water villas.
Owned by Crystal Plaza Resorts, the new resort will open in early 2016 and is a joint venture by Sri Lankan construction firm Sanken Overseas and hotel investment company Singapore Hospitality Holdings.
"Tourism in the Maldives is strong and we see huge potential for an upscale brand like Amari," said Onyx CEO Peter Henley.
"Our entry into the Maldives with Amari Havodda marks a key step in our international development plan and we look forward to the exciting times ahead as we work closely with our partners to create a contemporary and relaxing haven."
