Onyx signs two new hotels for Malaysia
Thai hotel group Onyx Hospitality has signed a management agreement for two new adjacent properties in Malaysia.
The hotels are to be named Ozo Medini and Shama Medini, both located in the UMCity Medini Lakeside mixed-use complex in Iskandar, Johor State.
The midscale Ozo Medini hotel will have 198 guestrooms, swimming pool and fitness centre.
The larger Shama Medini is set to feature 232 serviced apartments, a restaurant, kids’ club, fitness centre, and rooftop garden.
We are thrilled to continue the expansion of our brands in Malaysia. As a Thai company, having a presence in one of our closest neighbouring countries has always been priority for us," said Onyx CEO Peter Henley.
"We have great confidence in our partner, UMLand, as these two new projects bring the total of shared projects to three, after the signing of Amari Johor Bahru in 2013."
Henley added that once the two new properties open, it will be the first time all three core brands -Amari, Ozo and Shama – will be present in the same region.
