Orbitz launches dining rewards scheme
Online travel agent Orbitz is adding a dining option to its loyalty program Orbitz Rewards.
The Chicago based OTA has partnered with Rewards Network, a firm that offers dining at more than 11,000 restaurants in North America.
Orbitz Rewards members can sign up for free using an existing credit card registered in the program and earn 5% in Orbucks – the Orbitz reward currency – when booking meals at participating eateries.
Members using the Orbitz Rewards Visa card will get an additional 2% Orbucks when paying with an Orbitz Rewards Visa card.
Participating restaurants are listed on the newly launched Orbitz Rewards Dining website.
Points can be tracked and used to pay for hotel bookings using the Orbitz website or iOS and Android devices.
"Dining is such a big part of the travel experience that it was a logical next step for us to offer Orbitz Rewards Dining to our members and give them the opportunity to earn travel rewards throughout their entire vacation," said Sarah Butterfass, Orbitz senior director of loyalty.
"The best part is that our customers stay engaged with Orbitz Rewards and continue to earn Orbucks towards their next vacation," Butterfass said.
The Orbitz Rewards loyalty program launched last fall and has so far gained over two million members.
