Over-tourism is affecting UK agents
Over-tourism is affecting the destinations sold by travel agents in the UK, according to the latest TravelMole poll.
Earlier this year the World Travel & Tourism Council published a report that revealed nine cities around the world are suffering from too many tourists or could face potential problems because of high visitor numbers.
Included in the list were Amsterdam (above), Barcelona, Paris, Prague and Rome – all popular mini-break destinations.
When asked whether this was affecting the destinations they sold, more than 56% of travel agents who responded to the survey.
Almost 2,000 agents agreed they were switching to other destinations due to the over-tourism issue highlighted by WTTC’s Destination 2030 report.
