Package holidays go ticketless

Traditional tickets and travel documentation is being replaced by ticketless travel by Cosmos and sister flight-only operator Avro.
Travel agents will receive a single page ‘Travel Itinerary’ confirming all flight and travel arrangements, rather than tickets and documents.
The switch will initially involve charter and scheduled flights with in-house airline Monarch and be introduced to include other airlines as soon as this becomes possible.
Sales director Damian McDonough said: “With most scheduled and low cost carriers operating on e-tickets, or ticketless, we felt the time was right to move to a ticketless environment for our package and flight only customers.
“Feedback from agents has also shown that they would prefer to receive flight and holiday information in this way which they can more easily forward to our mutual customers.
“Not only will it be more efficient, it will prove cost-effective and more environmentally friendly in line with our green policy.”
The process was initiated with key agents in April first on the Monarch scheduled routes and subsequently across all charter flights.
“Despite the fact that the majority of our customers travel on Monarch flights, we will be doing our best to encourage other charter airlines with whom we work to adopt this process so that all of our customers can benefit from this excellent new enhancement,” added McDonough.
