Page & Moy brand to be scrapped
A shake-up at Page & Moy Travel Group will see the brand disappear in 2013.
Although Page & Moy will remain as the corporate company name, the group will focus on its two other brands – escorted tours specialist Travelsphere and singles specialist Just You.
All current Page & Moy holidays will continue to run as normal in 2012, but from 2013 they will be operated under the Travelsphere brand.
A spokeswoman said the decision was taken after customer consultation, which found that effectively the two brands were similar and were competing against each other.
“It’s a question of scale,” she said. “Many customers book with both brands but three times as more holidays are sold under the Travelsphere name.”
The Leicestershire-based group said the move was part of its “robust growth strategy to bring the company back into profit”.
It is currently carrying out a redundancy consultation with some staff and this will be completed at the end of December.
New CEO Ian Smith, who joined the company this summer, said: “Since I arrived we’ve taken six million pounds out of the cost base already, by removing marketing costs, reprioritising product focus and focusing on customer service.
“For our future growth we believe it is important for our business to focus single-mindedly on one brand for the escorted sector, and one brand for the escorted single traveller.”
All three brands will operate as normal in 2012, with a final Page & Moy branded brochure in January 2012.
