Paper arrivals forms to be scrapped

Friday, 22 March 20133 min read

US Customs and Border Protection officials are to get rid of paper arrivals and departure forms.

It hopes to streamline the admission process for arriving overseas visitors by automating Form I-94.

The plan, effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register, will allow passengers to fill out the form electronically.

The form is for those traveling on a visa, not visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries.

CBP believe the move will help save around $15.5 million a year.
