Parents offered discounts to take holidays outside termtime
Three travel agents in Surrey are taking part in a scheme designed to encourage parents to take their children on holiday outside school termtime.
Kingston Council is behind the initiative which is aimed at cutting down on the number of children missing school because their parents are taking advantages of the lower prices available outside peak holiday periods. The Council claims that 2,500 school days are lost each year due to the problem.
American Express Travel Services, Travelharbour and Superclubs are the three agents that agreed to take part in the intiative – offering discounts of between 5%-10% to families with school-age children.
