Parents want kids to travel, not marry
Parents believe travel is more important for their children in their twenties than settling down to family life.
Insurance and investment group One Family found that 47% of mums and dads questioned in a recent poll wanted their children to have travelled extensively by the age of 30.
In contrast, only 37% wanted to see their children married or with a life partner by the age of 30 and only a quarter wanted their offspring to have children of their own at that age.
When children were asked about their own aspirations, 37% said they wanted to travel widely before they hit 30 and only 28% thought they would marry in their 20s.
However, the priority for both parents and children was for them to get a good job and become homeowners before 30.
