Part of Great Wall of China reopens

Thursday, 26 Mar, 2020 0

A section of the Great Wall of China has reopened after a two-month closure since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Badaling section is now open to visitors in another signal that China is slowly getting back to normality.

It is normally one of the heaviest trafficked sections which has previously suffered overcrowding.

A daily cap of 65,000 visitors was imposed last year.

For the time being authorities will only allow 30% of this maximum on the wall each day.

Although Beijing’s Forbidden City palace complex remains closed, other attractions are reopening such as Beijing’s city zoo and Shanghai’s Power Station Of Art museum.

Authorities have eased the lockdown across Hubei Province, although access to Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak, will remain restricted until early April.
