Passenger and emotional support squirrel booted off flight
A squirrel drove a planeload of passengers nuts in Orlando, delaying their flight to Cleveland, Ohio, for more than two hours.
The delay was caused by the squirrel’s owner who refused to leave the Frontier Airlines plane when ordered to do so.
That was because it was apparently an emotional support squirrel, an animal not allowed according to Frontier’s policy.
The airline only accepts cats and dogs as emotional support pets.
The owner had apparently taken the necessary steps to inform the airline she was travelling with an emotional support pet, but she did not say it was a squirrel.
When refusing to deplane by Frontier crew, all other passengers were taken off first and police were called to remove the defiant woman.
Relieved passengers applauded as she was taken away by police.
No charges were brought.
In a statement, Frontier said: "Everyone was deplaned so police could deal with the passenger."
The airline’s new emotional support policy restricting the types of animals allowed comes into effect next month but its old policy still didn’t allow squirrels, which are classed as rodents.
