Passenger with hidden knife charged with ‘hijacking’ at Boise airport
A man has been charged with hijacking after a security check found a knife hidden in the insole of his shoe.
Donald Jackson, 67, from Boise was arrested at Boise Airport.
The carrying of a concealed weapon at an airport falls under the charge of aircraft hijacking under Idaho state law.
In the other shoe Jackson allegedly hid a small amount of marijuana, a Boise Police press release said.
Police believe he had no intention of taking control of a flight or harming anyone.
He told police he just wanted to take the blade to his final destination.
He was also charged for the marijuana possession.
The arrest of Jackson came just days after Andy Coose of Idaho’s Transportation Security Administration reminded fliers to keep their firearms at home after record seizures last year.
It came just a few days after a Boise passenger was discovered hiding a gun in a box of cookies.
The airport now has colorful new signs advising passengers to ‘Pack clothes, not heat.’
