Passengers hospitalized due to mystery odor on Spirit Airlines flight
An unknown odor forced a Spirit Airlines flight to turn around just after takeoff, with seven people taken to hospital for evaluation.
The flight had just departed from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport en route to Fort Lauderdale when passengers began experiencing ‘major difficulties.’
The flight landed safely and was met by airport fire crews and first responders.
Affected passengers needing attention were ferried to local hospitals.
The plane was taken out of service and is currently being inspected, Spirit Airlines spokesman Derek Dombrowski, said.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
Neither the airline nor the airport has given an update on the passengers’ condition.
